BerniePortal March Product Updates

At BerniePortal, we are constantly improving our software to fit your HR needs. To keep you in the know, we dish up the latest Bernie Scoop each month — no matter how big or small the update. Here are the 3 BerniePortal product updates released this month that will help streamline your organization’s HR functions.


Employee Compensation Tab Relabeled as “Payroll”

In preparation for future updates and for purposes of consistency, we have relabeled the employee “Compensation” tab as “Payroll.” HR admins can adjust compensation within employees’ profiles when promotions occur, ensuring that paychecks reflect the change in salary. 



Direct Deposit Information moving to Employee Payroll Area (Coming soon!)

To continue preparation for future updates, employee Direct Deposit information will be housed under the “Payroll” area of an employee’s account in BerniePortal. This feature gives employees access to their direct deposit information as necessary, ensuring no issues occur. In the spirit of transparency and self-service, employees will also be able to view their employer's pay periods from the Payroll area, as well.



Custom Fields

Every company approaches onboarding new employees a little differently, which is why we designed BerniePortal to be customizable. In our latest update, employers are able to create custom fields that can be completed during onboarding and will be reflected in an employee’s profile. 

These custom fields can vary depending on the information needed. These can be personal inquires about the employee such as t-shirt size and emergency contact information, or work-related questions such as when the employee is available work background, and time zone they will be working from.



In the Custom Fields Library, employers will see customization options that enable them to collect the exact information they need from employees. You can list drop-down menu options or add a text box if you require written responses. In addition, additional text can be added to any custom field, giving employees more insight into why your organization is asking for certain information. 

Once custom fields are created, these questions can easily be added to onboarding documents and assigned to employees.
